Coastal Bend
Regional Park will become a regional oasis of forest, open space, wetlands and ponds
that provides a unique experience and an opportunity for year-round indoor and outdoor
recreational activities in a safe, environmentally friendly setting.
Children of all ages, as well as adults, will enjoy the many active recreational opportunities.
The abundant trees, native shrubs and ground covers will offer a haven for wildlife and birds,
complementing the birding activities of Coastal Bend and the Rio Grande Valley.
The park water system will contribute to the health of Oso Creek by filtering and cleaning the water
that flows through the park. The wetland and riparian habitats created by the park offer unique educational
and research opportunities. Large open ponds provide a scenic backdrop for many of the park's venues.
We believe that this park will provide families and children with the opportunity to enjoy themselves in a
unique forested setting that protects the environment, adds valuable habitat and benefits the
area's eco-tourism industry.
