Gardens and Amphitheatre

The Garden District includes several themed gardens, a maze, and an amphitheatre. Parking will be at the entrance to each venue.
The Asian garden concept has been expanded to two initial design themes including a Chinese and Mughul garden. These themes were
a result of latitudinal research that characterizes appropriateness of gardens based on similarity of latitudes.
Geometric order will guide spatial planning of Mughul garden, while more organic principles will be used in Chinese garden.
The gardens will include:
'Quiet' spaces that allow for contemplation, but also allow for interactive activities; 'borrowed' views from the waterway,
possible golf course, riparian corridor, and grass covered landfill; support areas for demonstration, community involvement, and
educational purposes; structures could include space for meetings, events, and storage.
Plantings should be indigenous or adaptive with the emphasis in design correlated to similarities in climate of garden origins
and respectful of traditions and practices of historic gardens.
Gardens will include tree shaded paths, covered pavilions, and water features. Design will incorporate prevailing southeasterly
breeze for comfort, but protect against plant damage.
Spaces within garden will allow for large and intimate gatherings.
In addition to the Asian gardens, a more regional palm garden could be integrated into the garden district.
The palm garden could be an organic space that simulates forested and naturalistic palm preserves and evokes a tropical feel.
Plant choices suggested offer variety in scale, arrangement, and color.
The design could include both formal elements and casual aspects of garden planning. Spaces within the garden should envelop
the visitor and offer distant views.
The amphitheatre is located in between the Mughul and Chinese garden within the Garden District.
While enjoying a performance, guests will be able to view that watercourse to the north, the 'borrowed' views of the golf
course, riparian corridor, and grass covered landfill.
Because of its sitting, the southeasterly breezes will provide additional cooling.
Proposed seating is provided for 1000 patrons.
